And So It Is
From the towering fairy chimneys of Cappadocia back to the towering minarets of the mosques of Istanbul.
This is the Büyük Mecidiye Mosque (Ortaköy Mosque), a restored Baroque Revival mosque located next to the water and alongside Ortaköy pier square. This mosque features windows designed to capture the Bosphorus' ever-changing light, and here at dusk when the sky is tinged with the hues of the setting sun and onset of night, it is simply breathtaking.
And so it is the sun sets on this series from Turkey, so with a final post we say goodbye to this incredible experience.
But not for good.
Oh no.
I hope to get back there again and explore this amazing country further; this meeting point of East and West, of Europe and Asia.
To walk these streets again. To pat the multitude of cats hanging out on every corner. To smell the charcoal braziers burning in parks and streetside stalls. To sit and drink cai in a cafe and watch the world go by. To hear the call for prayer echoing out over this vibrant city and land. To meet new people and make new friends and try new things.
But until that time, I will have my memories and these photos.
